Henry and Mudge

Did the kids tell you we had dogs in our classroom the other day?  After reading the story Henry and Mudge, we did some acting, and there were 13 kids taking 13 dogs for a walk!  Thank goodness it was all imaginary.

Can you guess who is the dog?

What Have We Been Doing?

You may be wondering what your kids do all day in second grade?  Take a look and see!

Rocks!  We've been studying, examining, and experimenting with rocks!

Here's our class trying to make a Metamorphic rock!

Rylee is using heat, (her breath!) and pressure to try to change her old igneous rock, (jolly rancher pieces), and sedimentary rock, (starburst candy), into a new Metamorphic rock!

We've been experimenting and practicing with groups of ten!

And of course, we've been reading our BRAINS out!

Kinesthetic Vowel Review

To help us review the vowels, we sang, we pointed, we moved, and finally, we worked together to make each letter!  Can you guess which vowel each group is trying to show?

Brain Dancing and Puppet People

In our class, one of our favorite ways to energize and wake up is to "brain dance".  Here are some snapshots of everyone getting their brains to groove!

After reading several books about each of us being unique, we spent time decorating puppets to look like ourselves.  I love how they turned out!
